Kent County Show 2003

This year Scouts from the 14th Medway were ambassadors for Scouting in Kent when they camped at the Kent County Show last weekend. In glorious weather, the Scouts spent three days and nights at the showground in Detling, showing Scouting skills to the public, allowing many adults to relive their happy memories of Scouting whilst sitting around the campfire, and introducing many young visitors at the show to the fun of Scouting.

As well as showing their camping skills, the ten young members and two leaders assisted with many aspects of the show, from handing out flyers around the ground to leading the prize winning sheep and cattle into the arenas; from collecting up litter to appearing on Radio Kent.

Their contribution to the weekend is recognised by certificates of achievement which will be dispatched to their schools for presentation this week.

Kelvin, our County Commissioner, successfully climbed the new County Climbing Wall.

A new feature this year was a low Monkey Bridge which was popular. There were activities such as paint spinning, hair braiding, face painting and many more.

The ever popular Hullabaloo Roadshow was kept busy providing music and patter for the amusement of the passing public.
