Opening of the Water Activities Area 2024
When Kent Scouts purchased the additional land at Lower Grange Farm the map showed that a pond had existed. However, it had dried up and was vastly overgrown. An idea sprang to mind that we could reinstate the pond, to bring water activities to Lower Grange Farm.
After initial clearance of trees and bushes we discovered a broken weir and the shape of the original pond. We established that approvals and drawings would be needed to take the project further. Thanks to Jack Moss, the KCC and the Environment Agency for their support and approval. Funding was forthcoming from a generous benefactor.
After four years the project was completed and we had an official opening on the 15th September 2024. Thanks to everyone who has played their part in ensuring that the “Water Activities Area” is now available for young people and adults to experience paddle boarding, kayaking and raft building. A memorial bench was unveiled commemorating the support of the late John Hunt to Kent Scouts.
