Kent Cubs Comic Relief 100 Challenge
100 Challenges for 100 years and 1300 Kent Cubs were certainly up for the challenge. Together with several hundred Leaders and helpers they descended on the County Showground at Detling, near Maidstone to take part in the Kent Cub Comic Relief 100 Challenge Day on Saturday 17th March 2007.
All the Cubs had a chance to try their hand at 100 different challenges which were based on the programme zones with the added extra dimension of a Crazy Capers zone, where they dressed up as clowns for a relay race, made balloon animals and had their faces painted with the Comic Relief logo.
The Cubs also had the chance to learn to juggle and spin plates using the circus hamper stuffed full of equipment won in the Scout Association Comic Relief competition. Cubs pitched tents, took part in obstacle courses, made badges, had their faces painted and had a go at a variety of quizzes and games including smelly socks! They raced camels and tested their fitness by shooting at goal, skipping and skiing!
At 3pm all the Cubs joined together to complete the final four challenges with the Kent Scout Hullabaloo roadshow - a massive conga to the sounds of "Show me the way to Amarillo", they shook hands with everyone else at the same time!, they all sung YMCA, The Music Man and got into groups of 100. Quite a feat with almost 2000 people in the Pavilion.
The total raised for Comic Relief currently stands at £2,500 - and there is still a little bit more to come!
Thanks to all the Leaders, Hullabaloo Roadshow Crew and Fellowship Members who took on the Challenge of providing 100 Challenges for Kent Cubs - we couldn't have done it without you!
