Active8 2015
Over a year in the planning Active8 brought together 80 exhibitors all under one roof at The Historic Dockyard, Chatham on Sunday 22nd March 2015. 1000 people came through the doors to discover a whole host of programme ideas, places to visit, equipment and clothing to buy and have a go at various activities.
The Kent teams were there showcasing what they can offer to our members alongside exhibitors and charities from all over the UK.
Hannah Kentish, the UK Youth Commissioner came along too - Hannah spoke with young people and got their ideas as to how to shape Scouting for the future. Hannah also launched KIJ 2017 - and the KIJ team were delighted with the response and received a lot of interest in this great camp for young people.
Visitors could scale the heights of the Broadstone Warren coconut tree and the Creed climbing tower to get a birds eye view of the event. There was so much going on it is almost impossible to list it all. We took a step back in time with a display of memorabilia from Kelvin Holford who shared his collection with the visitors.
Our thanks to all the exhibitors who came and supported this event and gave loads of ideas to leaders.
A massive thank you to all the teams who helped on the day - reception led by Bunty, refreshments led by Linda, Car parking led by Alison, management of the event - thanks to Zoe, Jim and Ken and overnight security where Chris and Dan from Iggy's Network spent a cold night in the slip.
Kent Scouts would like to thank The Historic Dockyard, Chatham for all their help in ensuring that Active8 was a great success. A super venue with a fabulous collection of ships, submarines and nautical artifacts on display. We can highly recommend a visit - check them out.
