The Poppy Appeal 2015

021

Kent Scouts were the proud recipients of a Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal Community Award for promoting the educational packs and encouraging Scout Groups in Kent to take part in fundraising for the Poppy Appeal.

The Appeal in 2014 raised over £44million - £1.5million of that coming from Kent - an increase of 19% on the previous year.

Over 40 million poppies are made in the factory in Aylesford, and Beccy Martin and Harvey Kennett, along with other recipients had a guided tour of the factory prior to the presentation.

The automated process runs from 7am until 10pm almost 365 days of the year to ensure there are sufficient poppies worldwide.

The wreaths are also packed and sent out from Aylesford and lorry loads leave the factory every day from July onwards - we saw the boxes, labels and wreaths ready for various organisations including the House of Commons.

Well done to everyone who took part in the appeal last year and we hope you will carry on this year.
