ReQuest 2021 Lady Daphne Derigging

On Sunday 24th November a group of Scouts, Explorers and Leaders from the 8th Faversham Sea Scouts, Faversham Explorers and Faversham District answered Alan Noake's call for help to derig the Lady Daphne.

Lady Daphne is the Thames Barge that the ReQuest 2021 Project have teamed up with, as she generally operates on the Thames in the city of London and will sail through the opened Tower Bridge on 17th September 2021 to commemorate the day 100 years ago that Sir Ernest Shackleton set sail for the Antarctic with two scouts on board. Visit ReQuest2021.org.uk for the full story and much more.

Lady Daphne is spending the winter in Oare Creek, Faversham being maintained, cleaned, repaired and painted ready for next summer.

The Scout team assisted Lady Daphne's owners Andy and Sam, Captains James and Shiner and the extremely knowledgeable and agile Laurie, we even had time to assist the Tollesbury's owner with his maintenance.

More Volunteer Workdays have been planned for December through to June 2020, details from Alan Noake.
