Your Jubilee Events
Here are some of the Diamond Jubilee activities that we have been sent.
Tovil Scout group held an inter-section Jubilee camp from 1st - 4th June.
The camp was attended by about 50 Scouts from Beaver, Cub, Scout and Explorer sections. A 60 activity challenge was set for all those at the camp with tasks including knotting, prussiking, completing an assault course, racing a London bus and various crafts such as tie dying a scarf and badge making.
Camp finished with a street party which was joined by friends and families. Despite the thunder and rain we all had an amazing time which will ensure those who participated will have memories of the Queens Diamond Jubilee to last for years into the future.
As part of the Diamond Jubilee celebrations the village of Halstead had many Royal scarecrows appear across the village.
The Beaver Colony and the Scout troop decided there was a mission to accomplish! Jubilee Scarecrows to be displayed in Halstead village needed to be made!
There was great enthusiasm of the Beavers and Scouts ripping and then stuffing paper into the limbs, body and head of their projects! Old Beaver and Scout uniforms were used to dress their characters - but who should they be? Well, Otter and Jackie found a great masks to finish off these Jubilee projects!
And so we present our newest members to the group: ‘Prince Harry — Beaver Scout’ with the good company of ‘Prince Philip Scout’ (who has joined just to make sure his grandson doesn’t get up to any mischief!).
‘Prince Harry — Beaver Scout’ took a trip to the Pratts Bottom Jubilee Fete with one of the Beaver Scouts on Saturday, 26 May and entered the Scarecrow competition where he was placed as runner up!
After his brief royal visit there he decided to join ‘Prince Phillip’ Scout and spend time with their other family members who can be spotted in different parts of Halstead village!
They celebrated the Diamond Jubilee party with the rest of the village and enjoyed themselves so much that they celebrated by dancing in the rain all week! They are only just starting to take time out to relax (and dry out!).

Sissinghurst Scout Group (Cubs & Beavers) decorated a Royal Carriage which is on show outside Trinity Church, Sissinghurst. It will stay up for the summer so look out for it if you are passing on the A262. We let the Church Sunday school children decorate the other side.
We also built a huge diamond to hang in the Church for their Jubilee-themed Flower Festival. We decorated it with hundreds of white paper roses.
