Remembrance Day 2013
Many pictures and words from Remembrance Sunday round the County.
8th Deal (Wingham) Scout Group
We had our best turn out ever for our Remembrance Parade and Service at our local village church, St Mary’s in Wingham. Over 75% of the young people took part and every single leader. Members of the church, the Scout Group and the Fire Brigade, paraded through the village to the church for the service and many people from our group took part in the service.
A young female Explorer Scout played the Last Post of the cornet, a Scout laid a poppy wreath, the two youngest Beavers helped to light the Peace candle, a Scout and an Explorer read information on one of the men from our village war memorial and all sections carried flags. We were very proud of them. Attached is a photo of the whole group after the service together with our Vicar, Rev Jo and our ADC, Ian McKenzie.
Eynsford Remembrance Parade
An excellent turnout from 1st Eynsford & Farningham Scout Group, Cubs, Scouts & Explorer Scouts & Leaders at the Act of Remembrance, in Eynsford on 10 November 2013 along with representatives from our sister organisation Girl Guiding UK.
The uniformed sections along with parents & members of the public, led the traditional procession of from the village school to the War Memorial where the Remembrance Service took place followed by the laying of the wreaths.
Remembrance Sunday in Dartford
There was a great turnout from groups across Dartford District at the War Memorial for the Remembrance Day service and parade. Stone group lead the parade carrying the district standard. All of the beavers, cubs, scouts, explorers and leaders looked very smart and were a great example of scouting in Dartford!
Remembrance Sunday in Sheerness
The 8th Sheppey Scout Group, Beavers, Cubs, and Scouts marched to the Sheerness Cenotaph; they laid a poppy wreath and then marched through Sheerness to the Holy Trinity Church for a short Remembrance Service.
Many of the Beavers, Cubs, and Scouts had been at Sheerness Tesco’s on Saturday 2nd November from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm collecting for the Poppy Appeal.
Most of our Group are now wearing the new Scout Memorial Project Badge.
