Young Leader Training – 13th / 14th March 2010
Over 100 young leaders from all over Kent came together in Dartford this weekend for the first of 2 training weekends that the Kent Explorer Scout Section are running for Young Leaders this year.
After the success of the training weekend we ran in November 2009 we have adapted and improved the format to give young leaders not only the formal training modules but also ideas and skills that they can use every week in the sections that they help with. This weekend we ran all modules A-K as well as special skill sessions on crafts and games that can be used in their groups.
As this was the second weekend we now have over 30 young people who have completed all the module training. Now all they need to do is to completed their missions and they will be presented with the Young Leader Belt which is the equivalent of the adult training wood beads.
The Venue this weekend was Dartford Technology College during the day for the training modules. The young leaders were then ferried from the College to Dartford Scout House by a Red London Routemaster Bus which was a great treat. After a substantial dinner the evening was spent learning new skills and crafts that the young leaders can use in their weekly sectional meetings.
A big thank you has to be said to all the leaders who helped out at the weekend, and Dartford District who let us use the Scout House. A great weekend was had by all and the feedback has all been really positive.
The next training weekend will be 20th – 21st November.
