The Living Land

On the 6th May 2015, 3000 Primary school children descended on the county showground at Detling for The Living Land Experience where they would get up close and personal with birds of prey, farm animals and get the chance to see where their food comes from.

Kent Scouts were there too with some activities based on the countryside and with over 1000 of the children visiting the stand during the day, we were kept busy!

Thanks to the team for coming along, chatting to people and cutting out loads of card animals for the wellie boot pegs!  Most of the children were able to recognise the fruits and vegetables, but the butternut squash proved a challenge for some.

The feely bags with farm yard related contents tested the limits too with the difference between a plastic goat and a plastic pony quite difficult!  Still all good fun, and with loads of interest in our facilities at Lower Grange Farm a very successful day for Kent Scouts.
