Deal Sandwich and Walmer Soap Box Derby 2015

Scouts from across the Deal Sandwich and Walmer district joined together in September at Betteshanger Country Park for the inaugural Soap Box Derby.

Groups had been building their carts to specifications based the length of a Scout and wheelie bin wheels as part of the new Team Challenge Badge. In total 7 carts took part racing time trials and then racing against each other in a knockout competition. The course was bumpy and despite the wide track the hedges that bordered the course were found ! It was hilarious afternoon of fun.

10th Deal (Eastry) won the time trials and knock out with 8th Deal (Wingham) winning the best looking cart. A great addition to the calendar and hopefully there will be even more carts taking part. A big thank you to Bill and Ian for organising this activity; roll on next year !
