Beaver Scouts Birthday Bash 2016
1600 Beavers and their leaders celebrated 30 years of Beaver Scouting with a visit to Howletts, near Canterbury. The excited Beavers had a specially written quiz sheet where they had to find the answers to 30 clues and then come up with the phrase "Happy 30th Birthday Kent Beavers". A massive birthday cake made entirely out of sweets was cut on each day of the weekend by the ACC, Luke Bury and some Beavers. Mr Beaver was there too getting lots of cuddles from Beavers and leaders!! The weather didn't dampen the spirits of anyone despite the torrential downpours!
The Kent team provided some crafts and face painting for all to enjoy too - and it was most welcome to get out of the showers under the restaurant veranda. The Beavers made elephant finger puppets, fork flowers, gorilla wellie boot pegs and animal masks. Whilst they waited for the face painting they were able to do the birthday word search.
The Beavers came face to face with all the animals including the tigers and gorillas who came up very close - good job there was glass and barriers between them! The adventure trail was kept busy too with lots of Beavers facing up to the challenge.
Everyone went home with a torch to remember the special year.
Thanks to the Kent Scout team who worked tirelessly all weekend and the Howletts staff for their patience, good humour and help.
Here's to the next 30 years of Beavers!
