Kent Cubs Enchanted by Disneyland, Paris

271 Cubs and Leaders were what it took to create the adventure of a lifetime at Disneyland, Paris. The coaches all named after a Disney character were ready and waiting at two departure points in Kent, ready to transport everyone to a magical world of fantasy and make believe!

18 months of planning and preparation by the ACC Cubs and Deputy ACC, Bunty Ridgway and Beccy Martin were almost at an end. With all the paperwork completed, rooms booked, meals chosen and home contacts set up the trip was ready for the off. Once on the journey, DVDs and quiz books were watched and completed and new friends made.

Beccy Martin, Deputy ACC Cubs takes up the story, At the Davy Crockett ranch the coaches were met by Venture Abroad representatives who guided everyone to their cabins. Everyone was safely tucked up by midnight although some were not asleep until much later!

A cold frosty start to the morning and the group was eager to get into the park to go on all the rides and of course come face to face with Mickey Mouse, everyone was ready on time, wearing their red hats and carrying their red bags Kent certainly made its presence known and were spotted throughout Disneyland. Everyone had a fabulous day, with the sun shining for most of it. We gathered for the Special Anniversary Once Upon a Dream Parade which saw the characters brought to life before our eyes.

It was soon time for dinner at Planet Hollywood and Kent Cubs dined with the characters but Kent Cub style! All the coach leaders dressed up as the characters from their coach and surprised the Cubs by greeting them at the entrance. Some Cubs were so convinced they were meeting real characters that they were asking for autographs and photos with them! Have you ever seen a County Commissioner dressed up as Buzz Lightyear? Well ours did!

The next day, with the morning routines over, coaches loaded up we returned to the parks. This time we went into the Walt Disney Studio Park where we were able to experience the studio tram tour, Stunt show action, roller coasters and a trip into Armageddon. All too soon and the time came to leave. Within minutes of being on the coaches eyes were soon closing and most of the passengers were soon fast asleep.

The trip was everything Scouting is about being with friends, having fun, new experiences and nights away. It brought back childhood memories for the Leaders and made new memories for the Cubs. Highly recommended!.
