Active8 - 16th March 2008

Almost 1000 Leaders and Trustees braved the cold, wind and wet to come along to Active8 at the Kent County showground, Detling. Over 70 exhibitors were there with stands packed full of programme ideas, places to visit, information and things to do for all our young people in Kent.

Leaders had their chance to have a go at Robot Soccer and Robot Wars - they could be young too for a change! With refreshments on hand, kindly provided by the Co-Operative Membership Fund there was plenty to keep everyone going all day.

Leaders were able to see how Programmes on Line worked first hand and also update their details on My Backpack, supported by staff from The Scout Association.

The Land activities team, having studied the weather forecast decided to erect the ice wall indoors which turned out to be a very wise move! Lots of people had a go and got a birds eye view of Active8 from the roof!

A Leader from Tonbridge said 'Plenty to see, good to see that all the section areas were well represented, well organised and easy to get to'. A Leader from Maidstone East commented that she had managed to get lots of questions answered and lots of ideas for Cubs.

The seminars proved popular with over 150 attending them during the day - lots of people had booked online in advance which was a new innovation piloted especially for Active8.

Kent Scouts would like to thank everyone who made Active8 possible - a tremendous amount of hard work was put in to ensure that the day was a success.
