Kent Cub Scout Challenge 2008

29 Teams from all around the County descended on Hope Hill Camp Site on Saturday 7th June 2008, to take part in the annual Kent Cub Scout Challenge.  Inspection, a quiz and 36 challenges awaited them.  They competed in teams of four to earn stars which of course converted into points.   Once they were given the go ahead to start the Cubs raced off to start and complete as many Challenges as they could in a day.

The Cubs identified animals, made paper boats, made music and guessed what was in the smelly socks.  They had the chance to test their skills in compass, tracking, giant Kim’s game and knotting so the traditional skills of scouting were put to the test too.  Have you ever passed a polo from person to person using just spaghetti and your teeth?  After some giggling but a lot of concentration the Cubs managed it in record time.

The overall winners were Tonbridge, closely followed by Maidstone West with Sheppey coming in third.    Kelvin Holford, CC, assisted with the presentation of medals and certificates.

Well done to all the Cubs who came along – they entered into the spirit of the day in true scouting style.  The County Cub Scout Team would like to thank all the Leaders who gave their time to help with the day, and to Gravesham Fellowship for keeping everyone well refreshed!
