Kent Cub Scout Area Cooking Competition 2008

6 Teams of 4 Cubs representing 6th Medway Marines, 11th Medway, 5th Sheppey,  8th Sheppey, 12th Sheppey and 2nd Milton Regis, took part in a cooking competition at Bexon Lane camp site, Sittingbourne on a very windy Saturday on 19th July.

They all worked very well in their teams and the standard of food produced was very good.  They had to design a menu, invite a guest to lunch, produce a 3 course meal for 2 with a hot drink and all food preparation and cooking had to be done on the day on 2 gas burners no mean feet when you are only aged 8-10 years.

The County Commissioner, Kelvin Holford, the ACC for Cubs Bunty Ridgway and the ADC for Scouts, Medway Towns Allan Lockyer were given the unenviable task of judging a very strong competition.

Points were also awarded by the Guests. At the end of the afternoon, after they had washed up and packed everything away, and when all the marks were added together, the 3 cub team of 2nd Milton Regis were adjudged to be the winners.

They were presented with their winners certificates and trophy, and all cubs taking part were also presented with a participation certificate.
