Kent Beaver Scouts Hopping down to The Hop Farm!

More than 2,000 Beaver Scouts and their families from all over Kent and some Colonies from East Sussex joined together at The Hop Farm, Beltring on the 9th and 10th of May.

The boys and girls aged between 6 and 8 year olds are the youngest members of the Scout Association.
Yes!  Girls in Scouting! This year we had more girls than ever before join Scouting in all sections!

The youngsters started the day by being greeted by Bertie Beaver and Hopper Rabbit the mascot from the park! The Beavers and their Leaders enjoyed all the fun of the fair! Riding on the Carousel; experiencing the Magic Factory and trying their hand at the driving school!

There were dray and tractor rides, mini golf, the animal corner, the wax works and going back to yester year in the quant old shop! Every Beaver Scout painted a piece of pottery to take home to their family.

At lunch time a huge surprise was in store for them all! While they ate their lunch in The Big Red Top, Captive 8 Productions entertained the crowds with a magic show, balloon modelling and circus skills.

The Kent Scouts very own Hullabaloo Road show finished off the day by playing some favourite tunes with fun and games for everyone! Explorer Scouts from Maidstone South District and Tonbridge Fellowship helped the staff from the Hop Farm pull out all the stops to make it a truly wonderful day for everyone!

Kathy Smith, Assistant County Commissioner for Beaver Scouts said ’It’s been a great experience for Beaver Scouts!  They have made new friends, had lots of fun and completed a section of work towards The Kent Invicta Challenge badge all in one day!’
