Kent County Show 2009

Kent Scouts welcomed visitors from all around the UK to their stand at the Kent County Show 2009.  Nearly 90,000 people attended the three day event at the Detling Showground.

Visitors to our stand were able to climb the wall, have a go at crate stacking and ascend a rope by prussiking.  The monkey bridge, erected and manned by Scouts from St. Luke's, Maidstone East District, was popular with younger children, as were the circus games where children were able to knock down cans, have a go at hoopla and bash the frog!

The team also provided the chance for youngsters to make a clown hat and bow tie and have their faces painted.  Hullabaloo kept everyone entertained with karaoke and music.  All washed down with hundreds of cups of tea in the hospitality tent!

One highlight of the show was the performance of the 17th Tonbridge Scout and Guide Band in the Falmouth Ring.  Their performance was enjoyed by everyone and it was agreed they really are the best bugle and fife band in the UK!
