Kent Cubs Splash 2011

Barton Point, Minster, Sheppey saw an invasion of Cub Scouts on the water on 11th June.  180 Cubs - 90 in the morning and 90 in the afternoon,  took part in canoeing, topper sailing and some special activities designed to help them learn about water safety.  The end result?  180 Cubs all had a great day - earned their Water Activities badge and went home wet!!

The Kent Water Activities team, led by Tracey Swift were absolutely fantastic - they instructed, helped, were full of fun and ensured that the Cubs were all able to be confident on the water and achieve a really good standard of sailing.  For many it was there very first time and they took to it like proverbial ducks!

The weather was generally good - but a few gusts of wind saw some capsizing in the afternoon, but the Kent Scout safety boats were soon to the rescue and the youngsters climbed back in the crafts for another go!

Thanks to everyone who gave up their time, shared their expertise and helped 180 Cubs enjoy their day on the water.  Thanks too to all the Leaders who helped the Cub team run the land based fun activities - we couldn't have done it without you.

There is some lost property - which Beccy is holding - so please get in touch if you have lost something!
