Kent County Show

Kent Scouts set up camp in Murrain Wood for the Kent County Show.  We showcased Scouting to the public, who visited our site.  The climbing tower and crate stacking were always popular and the team encouraged lots of youngsters to have a go.  St. Luke's Scout Troop erected the monkey bridge and assisted lots of children across it.  For many it was a huge adventure!

We rivalled the Open Golf at Sandwich with a specially constructed Crazy Golf course which had lots of Scouting obstacles - including a replica of Lower Grange Farm barn!  The team of face painters created everything from monsters to butterflies!

The team in the hospitality tent made everyone welcome with cups of tea and a friendly chat!  Our guests were able to watch the Kent Scout Annual Review for 2010 and pictures of the recent Cub trip to Disneyland. 

Hullabaloo kept the party going with singing and music - coupled with lots of people having a go on the wobble board the entertainment was non-stop!

Some Scouts were lucky to meet the Duke of Kent who was the Society's guest on the Friday.  He chatted with the young people about their scouting and what they were doing. 

Pat Marsh on BBC Radio Kent interviewed some young people and was particularly interested in the World Scout Jamboree.  Chris B gave him and the listeners an insight into what he can expect in Sweden.

The weather during the show was wet to say the least but the good humour of the team and their hard work meant that we all had fun and enabled the public to see Scouting at it's best!
