Beavers at Legoland
Wow! What a weekend we have experienced! The biggest Regional Beaver Scout event ever! Where? At Legoland Windsor! Over 13,000 Beavers and their families descended on Legoland on Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th October 2011.
It was a sight to behold! A sea of turquoise blue uniforms! Everyone who booked by the closing date was given a commemorative Woggle to wear for the rest of the year as a lasting memento! The gates opened at 10am and by 9 15am there was a massive crowd waiting to come and have ‘The best day ever!’ This was a quote from a Beaver who I meet on my way round the park. There were so many happy faces and in some cases whole Groups joined in the fun! Lisa from Medway Towns District booked 174 places what great Scouting spirit!
The staff at the park pulled all the stops out for this special event. Everyone was charming, nothing was too much trouble! We all sang Happy Birthday and cut the amazing sweetie cake which was shared by many Beaver Scouts! Yum Yum!
Wayne Bulpitt, National Commissioner for Scouts, took centre stage and cut the cake with the help of a crowd of smiling Beavers! He was thrilled with the event! Colonies had their photo taken with Bertie Beaver and the special Lego Beaver model during the day as a special memento!
Two years of planning plus a few sleepless nights went in to making this event a success! We had a great time working together as a Regional team and as a result we have forged a lasting friendship!
Sue a Beaver Leader from Dartford sent a lovely email saying “Although we had to queue for some of the extra special rides like’ The Atlantis’ it was a great opportunity to meet Beavers and Leaders from other Counties and chat while waiting ! It made it a special day!”
At the end of the day the shop was heaving with Beavers spending all their pocket money! Many thanks to all the Leaders from Kent who helped on the day!
